A Step by Step Guide to Installing Luxury Vinyl Tiles

If you are planning on installing Luxury Vinyl Tiles in your home, this step by step guide can help you achieve the perfect result. There are a few things to keep in mind when laying LVT flooring in Dubai. First, you must make sure that the sub-floor is level. Next, you must prepare the surface and lay the LVT board in the same direction as the wall. Finally, you should check for gaps between the LVT board and the wall.

Checking the level of the sub-floor before installing LVT flooring

Before installing LVT flooring, it’s important to check that the sub-floor is level. It should be completely level, but if the subfloor has low spots, you can fill in these low areas with a self-levelling compound. This compound should be applied with a metal trowel and left to dry before installing the LVT. Otherwise, you will end up with uneven floors.

Preparing the surface before installing LVT flooring

Regardless of the type of LVT/LVP flooring you plan to install; the first step is to prepare the subfloor. This is a crucial step if you want to achieve appropriate aesthetics while preventing trip hazards and premature wear. Moreover, improperly prepared subfloors can telegraph flaws and imperfections in the LVT/LVT surface. If they’re not fixed, these defects will reflect in the finish of the LVT/LVT, highlighting imperfections in the installation and exacerbating them.

Laying the LVT flooring in the same direction

Before installing LVT flooring, prepare the subfloor. Ensure that the floor is flat, smooth, and free of loose nails, concrete lumps, or other obstructions. Using a spirit level, check the subfloor for humps and dips. If any are more than two millimeters over a 1-meter run, they should be leveled out with a floor leveling compound.

Checking the gap between the LVT board and the wall

Before you begin installing your LVT floor, check the gap between the LVT board and the walls. Some boards may require cutting, so mark a line on the backside of the board seven to 10 millimeters from the wall or object you wish to cover. Then use a knife to cut along the line. When the gaps are equal, you should be able to place the LVT flooring directly on top of the existing floor.
